Mahigit 200 Filipino pilgrims ang na-stranded sa Muzdalifah, Saudi Arabia kaugnay sa paggunita ng Hajj, o taunang Islamic pilgrimage sa Mecca, ayon sa Philippine Embassy sa Saudi Arabia nitong Huwebes.
Sinabi rin ng embahada na mayroong 10 Pinoy pilgrims ang kinailangan ng “further medical attention" kaya dinala sila sa pagamutan.
“While ten Filipino pilgrims required further medical attention and were taken to nearby hospitals, they were discharged shortly thereafter and returned to their tents in Mina without incident,” said the Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
Nangyari ito sa harap ng mga ulat na marami ang nakaranas ng heat stress sa Hajj pilgrimage.
“The Embassy wishes to report that none of the Filipino pilgrims experienced severe medical issues,” paglilinaw din ng embahada.
Ayon pa sa embahada, ligtas naman na naihatid sa Mina dakong 1:00 pm noong Miyerkules ang 200 Filipino pilgrims na na-stranded sa Muzdalifah.
Para matiyak na nakahanda ang suporta sa mga Filipino doon, sinabi ng embahada na nakipag-ugnayan ito sa Philippine Consulate General sa Jeddah, Office of the Hajj Attaché sa Jeddah, at sa National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.
Binisita rin umano ni Chargé 'Affaires Rommel Romato ang mga Filipino pilgrims sa Mina upang malaman ang kanilang kalagayan, ayon pa sa embahada.
“Moving forward, the Philippine Embassy, alongside the Consulate General in Jeddah and the Office of the Hajj Attaché in Jeddah, will remain vigilant in monitoring the safety and well-being of Filipino pilgrims until the completion of the Hajj,” pahayag ng embahada.
“The Philippine Government is committed to ensuring Filipino pilgrims receive the necessary support and assistance to complete their pilgrimage safely and comfortably,” dagdag pa nito.
Nagsimula ang Hajj noong June 26 at matatapos sa July 1.
Una rito, inihayag ng National Commission on Muslim Filipinos na tinatayang 7,500 Filipino Muslims ang magtutungo sa Saudi Arabia para makibahagi sa taunang hajj sa Mecca.—FRJ, GMA Integrated News
