Itinalaga ni Pangulong Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. bilang officer-in-charge ng Philippine National Police (PNP) si Police Lieutenant General Emmanuel Baloloy Peralta.
Sa inilabas ng pahayag ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO), sinabing ang pagtatalaga kay Peralta bilang OIC ng PNP, ay bunga ng pagtatapos ng termino ni General Benjamin Acorda bilang PNP Chief nitong Linggo.
Bago ang paghirang bilang OIC ng PNP, hawak ni Peralta ang posisyon bilang Acting Deputy Chief for Administration, mula noong Pebrero 5, 2024.
Dapat na nagtapos ang termino ni Acorda bilang PNP chief noong December 3, 2023, nang sumapit ang kaniyang mandatory retirement age na 56.
Pero pinalawig ni Marcos ang kaniyang panunungkulan hanggang noong Marso 2024.
Naging PNP chief si Acorda noong April 24, 2023.
“In the exigency of the service, and to ensure the continuous and effective delivery of service, please be informed that Police Lieutenant General Emmanuel Baloloy Peralta is designated as concurrent Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Chief, PNP, effective 31 March 2024, until a replacement is appointed or until otherwise directed by this office,” nakasaad sa memorandum na pinirmahan ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
May petsang Marso 27 ang memorandum na para kay Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr.
