Inilahad ng dating aktres at model na si Nanette Medved-Po na natuto siyang maging mabuting ehemplo dahil sa pagganap niya bilang ang iconic na Pinay superhero na si Darna.

“I just realized at some point that, you know, Filipino fans are amazing. They look up to the artist and really try to, as a role model,” sabi ni Nanette sa “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” nitong Huwebes.

Ayon kay Nanette, mas naging maingat pa siya sa pagtanggap ng role nang gumanap na siya bilang si Darna noong 1991.

“I didn’t realize I was a role model until much later in my career. And when I found out that I was a role model, that’s when everything changed and I said ‘Wait, I need to be much more careful about the roles I choose, I need to be much more careful about what I say in public, what I wear.’ I became very conscious of the example I was giving to the public,” saad niya.

Pag-alala niya, maraming fans ang sumusuporta at tumitingala sa kaniyang mabuting ehemplong ipinakikita.

“I remember I was on a float, I think it was going down Roxas Boulevard and I was on a float, and I was looking down and you had mga lola, you had mga apo. They were all there and they were looking up, and they couldn’t I think separate me from the character. And therefore I had to very conscious of how I behave, not only to protect the Darna image but also to protect what they thought was how do you behave in the world,” balik-tanaw ni Nanette na philantropist at businesswoman na ngayon.

Higit pa rito, gusto niya rin protektahan ang tamang pag-asal na gusto niyang ipakita sa mundo.

“I wanted to be careful that I was modelling the behavior that I want to see in the world, rather than talk about things that were very frivolous,” sabi pa ni Nanette.

Nadala niya raw ito hanggang ngayon.

“Even to this day, I’m very careful about the messaging I put out in the world,” saad niya.

Sa direksyon ni Joel Lamangan, nakasama rin ni Nanette sa “Darna” noong 1991 sina Nida Blanca, Edu Manzano, Pilar Pilapil, Tonton Gutierrez, Bing Loyzaga, Dennis Padilla, Dona Cruz at marami pang iba.-- FRJ, GMA Integrated News
