Patuloy ang paghina ng halaga ng piso kontra sa US dollar na pumalo sa P57:$1 nitong Martes, na pinakamababa sa nakalipas na halos isa't kalahating taon.
Sa palitan nitong Martes, natapyasan ng 19.2 sentimos ang lakas ng piso laban sa US dollar, kumpara sa P56.808:$1 nitong Lunes.
Ito na ang pinakamahinang halaga ng piso kontra dolyar mula noong November 22, 2022, na P57.375:$1.
Nangyari ito bunsod ng paglakas ng US dollar mula nang lalo pang tumaas ang tensyon sa Middle East, kasunod ng pagpapakawala ng Iran ng mga sumasabog na drones at missiles laban sa Israel noong Sabado.
“… The gauge of the US dollar closed at new 5.5-month highs amid geopolitical risks or increased tensions in the Middle East, after top Israeli military officials signaled possible response/retaliation to Iran’s weekend drone and missile attacks on Israel that were foiled over the weekend,” ayon kay Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) chief economist Michael Ricafort.
Gumaganda rin umano ang retail sales data sa Amerika, habang dumausdos naman ang local stock market ng Pilipinas ng 157.46 points o 2.40% sa 6,404.97, habang bumaba rin ang All Shares index ng 68.26 points o1.96% sa 3,409.85.
