Inihayag ng Social Security System (SSS) nitong Miyerkules na itinaas nila ang maximum amount ng funeral benefit para sa mga miyembro ng hanggang P60,000.
Ayon sa SSS, sinimulan nilang ipatupad ang enhanced guidelines sa Social Security (SS) Funeral Benefit Program noong October 20, 2023.
Sa ilalim ng bagong patakaran, ang mga kukuha ng benepisyo para sa pumanaw na miyembro na may 36 o higit pang monthly contributions ay makatatanggap ng mula P20,000 hanggang P60,000 na SS funeral benefits, depende sa bilang ng kontribusyon na naihulog at average monthly salary credit.
Ang mga miyembro naman na nakapaghulog lang ng isa hanggang sa hindi aabot sa 36 monthly contributions sa panahon ng kaniyang pagpanaw ay makatatatanggap ng fixed funeral benefit na P12,000.
“The new guidelines provided under SSS Circular 2023-009 aim to incentivize active membership by raising the maximum amount of funeral benefit to P60,000 and streamline the provision of funeral benefits to claimants, especially for surviving legal spouses,” ayon sa inilabas na pahayag ni SSS President and CEO Rolando Macasaet.
Sakop ng itinaas na funeral benefit ang embalming services, burial transfer services and permits, funeral services (kasama ang church fees o ibang relihiyon), cremation or interment services, purchase or rent of coffin, purchase or rent of niche, cemetery, memorial lot, or columbarium, at memorial o funeral insurance plan.
Mayroong 10 taong prescriptive period ang aplikasyon ng funeral benefit magmula sa buwan nang pumanaw ang miyembro o pensioner. Gayunman, maaari pa rin itong magbago batay sa terms and conditions na susuriin ng SSS.
Maaaring magsumite ng aplikasyon ang SSS member-claimants ng funeral benefit sa pamamagitan ng kanilang account sa www.sss.gov.ph. Ang non-member claimants ay maaari namang magsumite ng aplikasyon sa mga sangay ng SSS.
“As we continue to pursue the provision of meaningful social security protection through simpler, faster, and more convenient processes, we also want to emphasize that actively paying SSS contributions will not only enable our members to qualify or remain qualified to our benefit and loan programs but also allow them to attain higher and better benefits,” ayon kay Macasaet. —FRJ, GMA Integrated News
