Pinawalang-bisa ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ang lisensiya para makapagmaneho ng sasakyan ni Wilfredo Gonzales, ang dating pulis na nahuli-cam na nagkasa ng baril sa nakaalitan niyang siklista sa kalsada ng Quezon City.
Sa resolusyon na may petsang September 5, sinabi ng LTO na napatunayang lumabag sa mga batas trapiko si Gonzales, kabilang ang Section 27 (Improper Person to Operate Motor Vehicles) ng Republic Act 4136, o Land Transportation and Traffic Code, na dahilan para pawalang-bisa ang kaniyang lisensiya at maaari lang mag-apply muli pagkaraan ng dalawang taon.
Ipinadala naman sa Department of Transportation ang kopya ng resolusyon.
“Respondent-driver's acts of having no due diligence in driving, which caused the incident that resulted in the destruction of the property of the victim, is considered unacceptable behavior of a driver. Taken as a whole, his actions are tantamount to the acts of an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle, which is punishable under Section 27 (a) of R.A. No. 4136,” nakasaad sa resolusyon.
“Respondent Gonzales is hereby declared as an Improper Person to Operate Motor Vehicles. Hence, his driver's license which is valid until 07/08/2024, is hereby ordered revoked and he is disqualified from securing a driver's license and driving a motor vehicle for a period of two years from issuance of this Resolution,” patuloy nito.
Sa viral video, makikita si Gonzales na binatukan at kinasahan niya ng baril ang siklista na nakasagi umano sa kaniyang kotse.
Nauna nang ipinatawag ng LTO si Gonzales para hingan ng paliwanag sa insidente pero ang anak lang niya ang dumalo sa pagdinig ng ahensiya noong Agosto 31.—FRJ, GMA Integrated News
