Inaprubahan ng piskalya na isampa sa korte ang kasong animal cruelty laban sa isang barangay tanod sa Bato, Camarines Sur dahil sa pagpatay sa asong si "Killua" na nakalabas ng bahay at nang-atake umano ng tao.

Batay sa desisyon ng provincial prosecutors ng Camarines Sur na ibinahagi ng Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) nitong Biyernes, nakasaad na may probable cause o basehan para ituloy ang kaso laban sa akusado dahil sa paglabag sa Republic Act No. 8485 o the Animal Welfare Act of 1998.

Nag-viral noong Marso ang insidente na nahuli-cam ang pagtalon ng aso mula sa bubungan para makalabas ng bahay ng kaniyang amo.

May inatake umanong babae ang aso kaya tumulong ang akusado na nauwi sa pagpatay niya sa aso.

“The manner by which Killua was killed sustains a finding of probable cause to charge respondent for violation of the above-cited law,” saad sa resolusyon ni Prosecutor Wilhenry Villar.

“Being a barangay tanod, respondent should have looked for the owner of the dog and report the incident to the barangay. The dog may have caused trouble or inconvenience in the neighborhood and tested positive for rabies, but still there are proper and lawful ways to manage the situation. Subjecting Killua to such cruelty and maltreatment will never be justified,” dagdag nito.

Samantala, inabsuwento naman ang tanod sa reklamong paglabag sa Anti-Rabies Act of 2007 dahil sa alegasyon na nagbebenta ito ng karne ng aso.

“The fact that respondent owns a store selling viands and the allegation that the dog was found at the place of a certain Ibanez is not sufficient proof that respondent is engaged in the business of dog meat trading,” ayon sa desisyon.
