Inihayag ng European Space Agency (ESA) nitong Miyerkoles na isang maliit na asteroid na tinatayang isang metro ang laki ang papasok sa atmosphere ng mundo, partikular sa bahagi ng Luzon sa Huwebes ng madaling-araw.
Paglilinaw ng ESA, walang magiging "adverse impact" ang asteriod sa pagpasok nito sa atmosphere na inaasahang mangyayari sa ganap na 12:46 a.m. sa Huwebes, sa Pilipinas.
Sa pagpasok ng asteriod sa atmosphere, magdudulot ito ng "fireball" effect pero posibleng hindi makita dahil sa bagyong Enteng.
''The object is harmless,'' saad ng ESA sa post nito sa X (dating Twitter). ''However the nearby tropical storm Yagi/Enteng will make fireball observations difficult.''
''Discovered this morning by the Catalina Sky Survey, this is just the ninth asteroid that humankind has ever spotted before impact,'' dagdag nito.
Ayon sa US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), ang asteroids ay ''rocky, airless remnants left over from the early formation of our solar system'' na 4.6 billion years na ang nakalilipas.
''Most asteroids can be found orbiting the Sun between Mars and Jupiter within the main asteroid belt. Asteroids range in size from Vesta—the largest at about 329 miles (530 kilometers) in diameter—to bodies that are less than 33 feet (10 meters) across.
