Nasagip ng mga awtoridad sa Cambodia sa Kandal Province ang 20 Pilipina na ginawang surrogate mothers o nagbubuntis para sa anak ng iba. Ang 13 sa kanila, buntis ngayon.
Ayon sa pahayag ng Philippine Embassy sa Phnom Penh nitong Miyerkules, ni-recruit umano ang mga Pinay sa Pilipinas at ginawang surrogate mothers.
Buntis ang 13 sa mga nasagip at nasa isang ospital. Nakatakda namang i-repatriate ang pito.
Sa ngayon, inaalam pa kung sino ang nag-recuite sa mga Pinay na nagawa umano sa pamamagitan ng social media o internet.
“Based on preliminary interviews, the recruitment of these 20 Filipino women took place in cyberspace by an individual whose identity and nationality have yet to be determined conclusively,” ayon sa pahayag ng embahada.
“The recruiter with an apparently assumed name arranged for the women to travel to another Southeast Asian country but eventually sent them to Cambodia where surrogacy is banned,” dagdag nito.
“At the time of their rescue, the women were found to be under the care of a local 'nanny,' together with four other women from a neighboring country,” pahayag pa ng embahada.
Patuloy umanong nakikipag-ugnayan ang awtoridad ng Pilipinas sa mga awtoridad ng Cambodia para sa paglutas sa naturang kaso ng mga babymaker sa kanilang bansa.-- FRJ, GMA Integrated News
