May bagong box office record ang Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) matapos na umabot umano ang kita sa takilya ng 10 pelikulang kalahok sa P1.069 bilyon hanggang nitong Enero 7.
Sa inilabas na pahayag ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) nitong Martes, sinabing nagawa ng MMFF 2023 na makapagtala ng bagong kasaysayan kahit nasa 800 sinehan lang umano ang nakapagpalabas ng mga kalahok na pelikula.
Paniwala ni MMDA Acting Chairman at MMFF overall chairman Attorney Don Artes, tumaas ang kita ng mga pelikulang kalahok dahil sa kalidad ng mga pelikula, at mga bagong manonood mula sa ABC market.
“We received reports that moviegoers watched multiple films while others watched films repeatedly. Hopefully, we can sustain this beyond the festival so that our film producers can offer quality movies all year round," ayon kay Artes.
"We also encourage filmmakers to create better films for the MMFF’s 50th edition,” dagdag niya.
Dahil na rin sa tagumpay ng MMFF 2023, patuloy na ipinapalabas sa marami pang sinehan ang mga pelikulang kalahok sa naturang pista ng mga pelikulang Pinoy.
Ang 10 pelikulang kalahok sa MMFF 2023 ay ang “Family of Two (A Mother And Son’s Story),” “Penduko,” “When I Met You in Tokyo,” "Becky and Badette,” "Broken Hearts Trip,” "GomBurZa,” "Rewind,” “(K)Ampon,” “Mallari,” at "Firefly” ng GMA Pictures, na itinanghal na Best Picture at Best Screenplay.—FRJ, GMA Integrated News
