Pumanaw na si dating Las Piñas Mayor Vergel “Nene” Aguilar sa edad na 74, ayon sa kaniyang asawa nitong Biyernes.
Sa pahayag sa Facebook post, sinabi ni Mayor Imelda Aguilar na sakit sa puso ang dahilan ng pagkamatay ng dating alkalde habang nasa St. Luke’s Medical Center—Global City.
“Nene, it paints all of us that you are no longer with us, but we know that you have accomplished your mission in this world, not only to your family and loved ones but to the hundreds of families you have served and supported throughout your years of service,” ayon sa alkalde.
Ayon kay Imelda, magsisilbing inspirasyon niya ang pagsisilbing ginawa ng kaniyang asawa sa loob ng 18 taon.
“Your years as the local chief executive have led to the unprecedented growth of our city. We will miss you very much,” pahayag ng alkalde.
“We invite our loved ones, friends, and all of the people of Las Piñas to remember him and celebrate his life and the love and joy he has imparted to all of us,” dagdag niya.
Nagsilbing alkalde ng Las Piñas City si Nene mula 1995 hanggang 2004, at 2007 hanggang 2016.
Naging lungsod ang Las Piñas noong 1997 sa termino ni Nene.
Samantala, naging alkalde naman ng lungsod si Imelda mula 2004 hanggang 2007, at 2016 hanggang sa kasalukuyan. — FRJ, GMA News
