Sa mga malalapit kay dating Pangulong Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, kilala siya bilang isang music lover. At isa umano ang paboritong pakinggan nitong awitin ay ang “Minsan Ang Minahal Ay Ako.”
Sa funeral mass para kay Aquino sa Church of the Gesú sa Ateneo de Manila University noong June 26, sinabi ni Kris Aquino, na paboritong awitin ng kaniyang Kuya Noy ang “Minsan Ang Minahal Ay Ako.”
Inawit ang naturang awitin nang sandaling iyon ni Jaya.
Bukod kay Celeste, mayroon din bersiyon si Ice Seguerra sa naturang kanta.
Sa Facebook post, ikinatuwa at nagpasalamat si Celeste nang malaman niyang naging paborito ng dating pangulo ang naturang awitin.
Ayon kay Celeste, ang “Minsan Ang Minahal Ay Ako,” ay isinulat ng National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab at ni direk Jose Javier Reyes.
"We created 'Minsan Minahal Ay Ako' in 1987 for the musical Katy! It was envisioned by our authors Jose Javier Reyes and Ryan Cayabyab to be the love letter of every performer for her audience," kuwento niya.
"It speaks of the love that can be taken away by a fickle public. But the love of the performer for her audience through the years remains pure and real even when forgotten. That the song took on a life of its own and became a favorite of many since then continues to amaze us," patuloy niya.
"To learn that PNoy loved our song and drew solace from it... [heart emoji]. I am confident I speak for the creative team of Katy!- Joey, Ryan, Girlie Rodis and I. It is our honour; we are deeply deeply blessed," saad niya.
Ang "Katy! The Musical" ay batay sa buhay ni Katy de la Cruz, na siyang kinikilalang “Queen of Philippine vaudeville and jazz.”
Pumanaw si Aquino noong Huwebes dahil sa renal disease secondary diabetes.
Inilibing siya noong Sabado sa Manila Memorial Park sa Sucat, Parañaque City noong Sabado.--FRJ, GMA News
