Sa isang pahayag nitong Lunes, kinumpirma ni Andrea Gitierrez, ang pagpanaw ng kaniyang mister, na nagtamo ng tama ng bala sa sentido sa nangyaring pamamaril sa Tangub City.
"A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered," ayon sa ginang.
With great sorrow, we announce the loss of our beloved husband, father and a leader, late Michael Gutierrez," patuloy ni Andrea.
Nasugatan at nakaligtas sa naturang pamamaril si dating Oroquieta City Mayor Jason Almonte.
Napag-alaman na tatakbong vice governor ng Misamis Occidental si Gutierrez, habang tatakbo namang kongresista si Almonte.
Nag-alok naman si Misamis Occidental Representative Henry Oaminal ng P5 milyon pabuya sa makapagbibigay ng impormasyon para matukoy ang pumatay kay Gutierrez.
Nagtamo ng mga galos si Oaminal sa naturang pamamaril at nangakong tutulong para mabigyan ng hustisya si Gutierrez.
"Our hearts grieve with the family of Mayor Michael P. Gutierrez on news of his passing. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his constituents," anang mambabatas.
"This brazen and senseless act of violence has no place in a democratic society, especially when it threatens our fundamental right to vote. We cannot let fear and injustice prevail over us," dagdag ni Oaminal.
