Magsasagawa ng fundraising gigs si Chito Miranda, ang kaniyang bandang Parokya ni Edgar, at iba pang musikero para sa gitarista nilang si Gab Chee Kee. Nasa ospital si Gab dahil sa pneumonia, na komplikasyong dulot ng sakit na lymphoma.
Sa post sa social media, inilahad ni Chito na na-diagnosed si Gab ng lymphoma “last year and has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past few months.”
“Despite his situation, he was relatively doing OK and thought it would be best not to let everyone know what he was going through, because he didn't want anyone worrying about him,” ani Chito.
Sa kabila ng kaniyang kondisyon, nagpatuloy pa rin sa pagtugtog si Gab para sa Parokya ni Edgar, hanggang sa pinayuhan na siya ng doktor na magpahinga na muna.
Hiniling daw noon ni Chito sa kaniyang mga kabanda na huwag munang tumugtog habang nagpapagaling pa si Gab.
“Pero kinausap kami ni Gab and asked us to continue playing because he doesn't want us to stop playing just because we're waiting for him to get better," anang Parokya ni Edgar frontman.
Nagpatuloy ang banda sa pagtugtog habang nagpapagamot si Gab.
“Unfortunately, due to complications brought about by his condition, he is now battling pneumonia and was recently transferred sa ICU and has been intubated for more than a week already,” sabi ni Chito.
“He was financially prepared naman for the chemotherapy...but now, his family needs help with the overwhelming hospital bills,” patuloy ni Chito.
Inilahad pa ni Chito na ayaw pa ni Gab noong una na tumanggap ng tulong, hanggang sa makumbinsi rin ito ng pamilya at mga kaibigan.
“Parokya and our friends from the music scene will be doing a series of fundraising gigs to help Gab out...most of which won't even be announced as fundraisers. Tahimik lang sila na tutulong," ani Chito.
Pinasalamatan ni Chito sina Ebe Dancel, Gloc-9, Shanti Dope, Moira Dela Torre, Flow G, at iba pang banda na Kamikazee, Gracenote, at December Avenue sa post.
Best friend na ni Chito mula pa noong high school si Gab, na nagsisilbing "heart of the band.”
“Bestfriend ko si Gab mula 1st year high school, and sya lang yung palagi kong ka-jamming bago pa naming maisipan magbuo ng banda...at kahit nung naging Parokya na kami, si Gab pa rin yung sinusundan ko whenever we perform live,” sabi niya.
