Inihayag ni Juliana Gomez na masaya siya bilang kaisa-isang anak nina Richard Gomez at Lucy Torres, at hindi na siya nagtanong pa tungkol sa pagkakaroon ng kapatid.
Sa "Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel," tinanong si Juliana kung dumating sa puntong humiling siya na magkaroon ng kapatid.
"I'm really okay with just us three. I never really asked, but I mean, I always say like, people always assume 'Ay ikaw you never wanted a sibling.' For me it was never really not wanting a sibling. It was just more of like, I'm alright with life just being the three of us," sabi ni Juliana, na nagwagi sa open fencing competition sa Thailand noong nakaraang buwan.
Kahit walang mga kapatid, marami namang kaibigan ang pamilya nina Juliana, kaya malawak ang mundo para sa dalaga.
"It's nice to come home to just two people that you're really comfortable with," anang student-athlete.
Dagdag ni Juliana, nagawa nina Richard at Lucy na balansehin ang pagiging mga magulang at kaibigan sa kaniya.
"I think my parents have found the perfect balance between being a friend and parenting me," sabi niya.
Kaya para kay Juliana, hindi malungkot ang pagiging isang solong anak.
"It's not lonely at all. Because we're very much in each other's lives. For example, my parents are friends with my friends, I'm friends with their friends. I think I've reached that age where we all just talk about the same things and we all just get along as friends."
Bukod sa suporta sa kaniyang sports, ipinakikita rin nina Richard at Lucy na sila ay mga magulang na maaari niyang pagkuwentuhan ng lahat ng kaniyang pinagdadaanan.
"I think the parents' side comes out when, for example when I achieve something and they're very proud of me, I genuinely feel like a baby that just got its first steps," sabi ni Juliana.
"But when I say that they are more like friends, I guess it's because I have so much respect for them, but at the same time I don't feel the need to hide things from them. I tell them the chismis. It's a very close relationship," dagdag niya. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
