Bilang isang American citizen, inihayag ni Tom Rodriguez na naaprubahan na ang diborsiyo niya kay Carla Abellana. Sa kabila nito, hangad daw niya ang kaligayan ng kaniyang dating asawa.
"I left the Philippines for the US last March 13, with the realization that despite all my efforts, Carla had already given up on our marriage," saad ni Tom sa isang pahayag na ipinadala ng kaniyang manager sa GMA News, ayon sa Chika Minute report ni Nelson Canlas sa 24 Oras nitong Biyernes.
"A lot has been said against me but in the end, Carla and I are the only two people who know the truth. I refuse to allow anyone, who only wants to use us and our brokenness, for news," dagdag ni Tom. "It was not a perfect relationship, but we both know how much we loved each other."
Kabilang umano sa mga pagkukulang ni Tom ang maloko ng isang tao na dahilan ng pagkawala ng lahat ng kaniyang pera.
Gayunman, itinanggi niyang sinaktan niya ang kaniyang dating asawa.
"I will no longer dwell on the reasons why our marriage fell apart. So many lies have been said of me which are completely untrue and utterly unfair. I may have fallen short as a partner, especially when I lost all my money to someone who preyed on my gullibility, but it must be stressed that at no time did lever lay a hand on Carla," anang aktor.
Tinanggap na rin daw ni Tom ang desisyon ni Carla na maghiwalay na, at maglalagi muna siya sa US.
"I have accepted her decision that it is time to move forward, independent from each other. I have to teach myself how to fall out of love from her. This will be a lonely, painful path that I shall take, but together with my family here in the U.S., I have the strongest support system. I am with people who will never judge and who will only love me unconditionally."
"Now that the divorce decree is final, I truly wish Carla's birthday wish be granted and that she finds the happiness she is searching for," ani Tom tungkol kay Carla, na nagdiwang ng kaarawan noong Hunyo 12.
Sa isang IG post, sinabi ni Carla na "My Birthday wish is to be happy."
Bagaman aprubado na sa US ang diborsiyo ni Tom, kikilalanin lamang ito sa Pilipinas kapag nag-file at naaprubahan ng korte sa bansa ang petition of recognition of foreign divorce decree.
Ito na aniya, ang huling pagkakataon na magsasalita si Tom.
Sinubukan ng GMA News na hingiin ang kampo ni Carla pero hindi pa sila nakakuha ng komento hinggil dito.
Oktubre 23, 2021 nang ikasal sa isang simbahan sa Batangas sina Tom at Carla.
