Leading broadcast company GMA Network won 14 awards including the “TV Station of the Year” at the 2021 Platinum Stallion National Media Awards organized by the Media and Communication Department of Trinity University of Asia and held virtually last November 27.

For the fifth straight year, the Network’s regional arm, GMA Regional TV, won as “Best Regional TV Network,” proving that it is indeed the regional channel of choice by the entire Trinitian community.

Various Kapuso programs and personalities were also honored for their significant contribution to media and the allied arts.

Award-winning newscast 24 Oras was once again chosen as “Best TV News Program” while well-loved and trending public affairs show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho earned another “Best Magazine Program” trophy.

Long-running public affairs show Wish Ko Lang was named “Best Public Service Program” while its host Vicky Morales won as “Best Public Service Show Host.”

The country’s longest running morning TV show Unang Hirit triumphed as this year’s “Best Morning Show.” Documentary program I-Witness was conferred the “Best Documentary TV Show” award while Howie Severino's documentary on the coronavirus, “Ako si Patient 2828,” was recognized as the “COVID 19 Documentary of the Year.”

Ground-breaking family drama Legal Wives was awarded as “Culturally Relevant TV Series.” The recently-concluded original series was headlined by Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo, Andrea Torres, Bianca Umali, and Alice Dixson. 

Rounding off the Kapuso winners in the Television category were Pia Arcangel and Atom Araullo.  Pia won as “Female News Personality of the Year” for GMA’s latenight newscast Saksi while Atom was named “Male News Personality of the Year” for GTV’s flagship newscast State of the Nation.

The Kapuso Network also dominated the radio categories. Its flagship AM and FM radio stations Super Radyo DZBB 594 and Barangay LS 97.1, were recognized as “AM Radio Station of the Year” and “FM Radio Station of the Year'', respectively.

Now in its 7th year, the Platinum Stallion National Media Awards celebrates the continuing efforts of individuals and groups in educating the public through the media and the allied arts. Winners were decided by the entire Trinitian community which included students, alumni, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
