New York —Brain dead sa ngayon sa ospital ang isang visiting Filipino lawyer sa Amerika matapos tamaan ng bala sa ulo sa insidente ng pamamaril sa Philadelphia.
Sa text message sa GMA News, sinabi ni Philippine Consul General Elmer Cato na isang 36-anyos na abogado ang biktimang Pinoy, na hindi muna pinangalanan bilang pagbigay-respeto sa kanyang pamilya.
Dagdag ng New York-based Philippine Consul General, papunta sa airport lulan ng isang Uber car ang biktima at ang kanyang ina para sa kanilang flight patungong Chicago, nang mangyari ang pamamaril dakong 4 a.m. nitong araw ng Linggo (Manila time).
Isa sa anim na balang tumama sa Uber car ang tumama sa ulo ng biktima.
Ayon kay Consul General Cato, “ We had a shooting incident in Philadelphia this morning that wounded a 36-year-old Filipino lawyer visiting from the Philippines. He and his mother were on their way to the airport at around 4 a.m. to catch flight to Chicago when shots were fired at Uber car they were riding in."
Dagdag ni Cato sa kanyang text message, "The victim was hit in the head by one of six bullets fired by suspect/suspects and was later pronounced brain dead at a hospital."
Sa ngayon, wala pa umanong naaresto ang mga pulis hinggil sa isidente, ayon kay Cato.
"No arrests have been made so far. Deputy Consul General Arman Talbo, who is attending an event in Philadelphia, has been advised to visit the mother and check with authorities. He is now on way to the hospital."
Nangako naman nang tulong ang Consulate General sa biktima.
"I was able to contact the victim’s cousin who shared with us details of what happened. I assured him of our assistance, including in repatriation of the victim. The Consulate is also in touch with the Philadelphia police. ”
Ayon kay Cato, inatasan na niya si Deputy Consul General Arman Talbo para alalayan ang pamilya ng biktima. —LBG, GMA News
