In a move to revive children’s interest in books and in reading, a new advanced reading center has opened in Calasiao, Pangasinan, under the School's Divison Office (SDO) - Pangasinan 1.
Designed especially for children, the reading center is a space where students are encouraged to put their gadgets down and dive into the world of books.
Guillana Igama, a Grade 1 learner, expressed her excitement about the variety of books available.
“I love going to the library, I love reading books to learn,” she said.
The goal of the reading center is to enhance children's reading comprehension, speech development, and vocabulary through exposure to new stories and educational materials.
"With the new books here, they will learn talaga, and ‘di ba ang reading, it will lead you to other places and ‘yung comprehension [mag-iimprove] talaga," Mylene Tapiador, the Pre-school Coordinator of Mother Lourdes Learning School, said.
The reading center is open to all learners and aims to improve the reading skills of children at an early age.
"We want the kids to grow in reading," Dr. Ma. Ditas Fernandez, Director for Educational Programs at the school, said.
To make sure the kids have the best materials, the school teamed up with a multinational publishing company, offering a variety of advanced books for students to enjoy.
