Student-athletes of the Department of Education (DepEd) Lapu-Lapu City Division brought home more gold medals from the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet 2025 compared in 2024.
The athletes clinched 29 gold medals compared to the 20 golds reaped in 2024.
Events in arnis pitched in the greatest number in the gold medal haul at 16.
Six golds were won in dancesport, two in chess, two in billiards, one in archery, one in long jump, and one in triple jump.
Meanwhile, for the first time, students with special needs also represented DepEd Lapu-Lapu City Division in the special games wherein they bagged one silver medal and four bronze medals.
Lapu-Lapu City Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Marilyn Andales, said that financial incentives for student- athletes on podium finish are higher in 2025.
Gold medalists are set to receive P7,000 from what used to be P5,000.
Silver medalists are to get P5,000 from P3,000 previously, while bronze medalists will get P3,000 from what was P2,000.
Additional incentives are given to student-athletes who have a haul of at least two to three medals.
The financial incentives will be distributed on March 27, 2025.
