The Province of Antique is all set for the hosting of the 2025 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet set from March 1 - 8, 2025.

About 6,000 delegates from the Provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental are set to compete in various sporting events.

In line with the hosting, the Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is on Blue Alert status to ensure security and safety of delegates.

It was also learned that additional DRMMO personnel will come from the Province of Aklan and from Passi City in Iloilo Province.

“Ang incident command system activated na ito at ang iba pang component ng ating incident management para sa WVRAA,” PDRRMO Antique Head Broderick Train said.

Aside from billeting areas, the Antique Provincial Government assures security and contingency plans for each sporting event.

“Nakagawa na tayo ng masusing risk assessment upang makita natin kung ano ang mga peligro at ano ang pwedeng mangyaring mga emergency,” Train added.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education (DepEd) 6 clarifies that Negros Occidental is still part of the WVRAA and on to the Palarong Pambansa in 2025.

To recall, Negros Occidental will join the Provinces of Negros Oriental and Siquijor as the newly created Negros Island Region.

“We are still one dito sa Region VI. Ang mananalo sa WVRAA 2025 may be coming from anyone of these six provinces na magre-represent sa region doon sa Ilocos Norte,” said Hernani Escullar, Jr., spokesperson of DepEd 6.
