The Iloilo Schools Sports Council Meet 2025, or Integrated Meet, has kicked off.

Christopher Caniban, an athlete from the Municipality of San Miguel, came pumped up and bent on his training because in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet in 2024, he clinched the silver medal in boxing.

Christopher's target is to come back in perfect shape for the regional level to snag the most coveted gold medal.

“Noong nakaraang taon kasi kulang ako sa dispilina sa sarili ko at palagi akong hindi seryoso sa training. Sa ngayon nagsisikap talaga ako na maabot ang pangarap kong maka-Palarong Pambansa,” Christopher said.

Compared to the concerns in 2024 on billeting areas, water supply, and extreme heat index, situation of delegates has improved considerably.

“Ang last year kasi was a learning para sa amin. From there, in-analyze namin ang mga bagay-bagay at may mga improvement tayong ginawa including ang pag-identify sa billeting quarters,” said Dr. Ernesto Servillon, Jr., Department of Education (DepEd) Iloilo schools division superintendent.

“Maganda ang billeting dito sa Graciano kasi bastante ang tubig tapos malinis at ang mga teachers very accommodating," according to Nanet Aguacito, sports officer of the District of San Enrique.

Servillon made sure Iloilo will defend its top spot in the WVRAA Meet.

“Ang ating tagline sa Iloilo is ‘Pangibabaw Iloilo’ so they shall expect that Iloilo will still soar high and we will dominate the forthcoming WVRAA Meet,” Servillon said.

Based on initial medal tally, 5th Congressional District Sports Association (CDSA) has topped the Elementary level, followed by CDSA 4, and CDSA 3 on the third spot.

In the Secondary level, CDSA 5 is also on top post, followed by CDSA 2, and CDSA 1.

Fourth CDSA has stopped the Paralympics followed by CDSA 3, and CDSA 1.

In 2024, CDSA 3 was the overall champion in the Elementary level and Paragems, while Iloilo Private Schools Athletic Association (ILOPRISAA) topped in the Secondary level.
