Filipino Olympian pole vaulter EJ Obiena has made a dream come true by sharing his love for the sport with the people of Ilocos Norte.

Obiena inaugurated his first-ever pole vault facility, designed to help athletes in the province learn the sport he is known for worldwide.

The new facility follows international standards and is located at the upgraded Marcos Stadium, which has a 12,000-seat capacity.

The venue will also host the Palarong Pambansa in 2025.

For many, this is a chance to meet a sports icon and learn from him firsthand.

Obiena, always passionate about inspiring others, encouraged the athletes:

"Anyone out there, near the stadium, [near or] far... train and try the event. Never doubt your mind," he said.

Obiena is also set to return to Laoag City from December 6 to 9, 2024 to hold a sports clinic for those interested to be pole vaulters.

"Join the club... hopefully, you guys enjoy it," he said.
