Streaking Gilas Pilipinas has officially secured an outright berth to the August 2025-slated FIBA Asia Cup after the Tall Blacks of New Zealand took care of business at home against Chinese Taipei.

Bolstered by their spotless 4-0 record atop Group B, Gilas only needed for the Tall Blacks to win their match against Chinese Taipei to officially book the Asia Cup ticket— accomplished soon after by the world's No. 22  team, 81-64.

This paved the way for Gilas to claim a seat in the Asia Cup scheduled for play in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia next year.

According to a report by GMA News Online’s Bea Micaller, Thomas Vodanovich and Corey Webster connived for 20 points to steer New Zealand to a lopsided win.

The Philippine men’s basketball team will still figure in the third window of the FIBA qualifiers in February next year.
