The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) has clarified that they are yet to be members of the UAAP, addressing the recently circulating rumors that the state university is the collegiate league’s newest member.

The official statement, released on the university’s social media account, reads:

OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING PUP’S APPLICATION IN UAAP

Screenshots from video clips that supposedly hint at the PUP being formalized as a member of the UAAP spread on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend, but was immediately dismissed by the school.

The PUP Radicals, formerly known as the Mighty Maroons, currently compete in the NAASCU (National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities) and SCUAA (State Colleges and Universities Athletics Association).
