Fines worth P15,000 and a three-year ban from basketball competitions in the city are up against two teams involved in a “basket-brawl.”

Vince Carungay, chief of the Lapu-Lapu City Sports Commission, said that they have to implement the fines and the ban against the teams for the unruly, disgraceful behavior.

“Amo gyud to ipatuman kay dili man pud to maayo ang ilang gipakita gud nga aksyon. Unya imbes sila untay mahimong ehemplo sa mga kabatan-unan kay sila’y naa sa sakto-saktong edad, nag-ingon ato hinuon sila,” Carungay said.

The “basket-brawl” happened during a fiesta celebration in the evening of September 29, 2024.

The game was intense, scores went neck and neck, as the two teams tried to make it to the cut for the second round of the basketball league.

Carungay said they already have the names of the basketball players who started the fracas.
