Two-time Olympic medalist Nesthy Petecio returned home to Davao City on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, after bagging a bronze medal in boxing in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

A motorcade was held before she went to the Davao City Hall where she was welcomed warmly by her fellow Davaoeños.

Nesthy resides in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur but she was born in Davao City where her boxing career started at 11 years old.

She shared that she is blessed for the support extended to her by Davao City and she will keep on coming back to the city she considers her first home.

Nesthy also said she is determined to compete in the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.

For sure, gusto ko pang maglaro sa LA. Andun pa ‘yung fire,” Petecio added.

Her family is also glad to have Nesthy back after eight months of being away for the Summer Games.

“Sobrang saya po namin buong pamilya ni Nesthy kasi almost 8 months po yata namin syang hindi nakasama tapos ngayon lang sya nakabalik pagkatapos nga kanyang laban sa Olympics,” her mother, Prescilla, said.
