A dragon boat race in the vicinity of Miramar wharf in Dauis town, Province of Bohol is set this weekend, August 17-18, 2024.

The dragon boat race is organized by the Bohol Paddlers Association, Inc. to promote the sport, health and wellbeing, tourism, and appreciation for environmental protection and conservation.

About 300 paddlers of 30 teams from different regions in the country are expected to participate.

The event dubbed “Endurance Non-Stop 7-Heat Race” is said to be the first in the Philippines dragon boat circuit. In the said boat race, paddlers will display their prowess in paddling, skills in team play, and endurance despite tight competition.

"One of the things atong gi-promote ani is sports tourism. This is one way of keeping the spirit of dragon boating alive. And for them to look forward to Bohol's event kay this is a very unique race format,” Dr. Theodore Dumaluan, president of Bohol Paddlers Association Inc., said.

The overall champion will win P150,000 in cash.

Dragon boat racing in Bohol started in 2013.
