Calabarzon (Region 4-A) was adjudged most disciplined delegation with the cleanest and most orderly billeting quarters in the recently concluded 64th Palarong Pambansa 2024 in Cebu City.
Department of Education (DepEd) Calabarzon spent reportedly around P400,000 for the “360-degree transformation" of Tejero Elementary School and Tejero National High School as the delegation’s billeting quarters.
Aside from their award for “best billeting quarters” because of the stimulating environment replete with decorations, and that which provided a coffee shop, a VIP room, a conference area, a mess hall, athletes and coaches’ sleeping quarters, among other amenities, Calabarzon was also declared the most disciplined of all 19 delegations.
According to Dr. Phamela Oliva, principal of Tejero Elementary School, Calabarzon deserves the recognition.
“Grabe ang ilang pagka-orderly gikan sa gate to the mess hall, sa ilang committee, very organized, very respectful. Dili gyud ka makadungog nila nga magsyagit-syagit,” Oliva said.
Close to 1,000 participants comprised the delegation led by Dr. Loida Nidea, DepEd 4-A assistant regional director.
Dr. Nidea said they took along with them their signature festival which is “Pahiyas,” a colorful display of farm produce hung traditionally from houses and establishments all over Lucban town in the Province of Quezon.
“Excellence is a culture and quality is a habit, we took along with us the brand of Calabarzon,” Nidea said.
Most of the decorations put up by DepEd Region 4-A were turned over to the school administrators of Tejero Elementary and High School to be of help to the Brigada Eskwela leading to the opening of School Year 2024-2025 on July 29, 2024.
Aside from settling on second place, next to National Capital Region, in the Palaro 2024, Calabarzon also clinched the championship crown in the National Festival of Talents in the City of Naga, Cebu and settled third place in the National Schools Press Conference in the City of Carcar, south Cebu Province on July 12, 2024.
