Jasmin "Water Beast" Mojdeh of CALABARZON shattered her previous record to win the gold medal in the Girls' 200m Butterfly at the #PalarongPambansa2024, held at the Cebu City Sports Center on July 11, 2024.

In an impressive display of skill and speed, Mojdeh competed in the secondary girls' category, and clocked an outstanding 2:19.72, breaking her own record from 2019.

From the start, Mojdeh surged ahead with powerful strokes and flawless technique, quickly distancing herself from her competitors. As she approached the final lap, the crowd's anticipation peaked. With a final push, Mojdeh touched the wall, securing her victory and setting a new record.

Mojdeh's gold-medal performance set a new benchmark for future competitors and cemented her reputation as one of the country's top swimming talents.

SEASONED SWIMMER

Mojdeh, a standout from BRENT International School Manila, represented CALABARZON for the first and last time this year, having previously represented the National Capital Region in 2018 and 2019.

“So far, I’m trying to enjoy my last Palaro lang since yung huling Palaro ko is nung grade seven pa ako, so, now I’m just trying to enjoy and really get the most out of it,” Mojdeh shared with GMA Regional TV News.

Mojdeh was awarded Most Valuable Player for swimming in the elementary girls division in 2018 and won multiple medals in 2019.

In 2023, she missed the event to focus on the World Junior Championships. This year, she competed in several events, including the 200m butterfly, 100m butterfly, 200m breaststroke, and relays, aiming to break her previous records.

Mojdeh's international experience, including recent achievements in the 2024 Asia Pacific Activities Conference Swimming Championships and the Asian Age Group Championships, has prepared her well for this competition.

Looking ahead, Mojdeh, who will attend the University of Southern California in the US NCAA, remains focused on breaking more records and inspiring future generations of swimmers.
