Jyane Kirt Cantor of Central Luzon has set a new Palarong Pambansa record in long jump with a distance of 6.14 meters in the elementary boys' division, surpassing a 22-year-old record.

Cantor surpassed the previous record of 6.04 meters set by Jeremie Tamles from the Davao Region during the 2002 Palarong Pambansa in Naga.

“Hindi ko po talaga ‘to inaasahan,”  Cantor said.

Cantor, a converted athlete who transitioned from Triple Jump to Long Jump this year, broke the record on his second attempt in the event.

Cantor is an incoming Grade 6 student at Caanawan Elementary School in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija.
