Cebu City is 95-percent ready to host the Palarong Pambansa 2024 in July.

The Department of Education and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cebu City are positive that the resignation of Vice President Sara Duterte as Education secretary will not affect the staging of the Palarong Pambansa 2024, a major sports event in the country.

The city government has assured that the Cebu City Sports Center is ready for the swimming and athletics competition.

Acting Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia with Dr. Adolf Aguilar, assistant schools division superintendent, and John Pages, chairman of the Cebu City Sports Commission, have heaved a sigh of relief as the rubberized track oval is now ready, as well as the billeting areas ahead of the arrival of approximately 12,000 delegates from various regions.

Garcia said that rentals of portable toilets (portalets) will push through but on a lesser cost compared to the cancelled rentals that amounted to around P18 million.

The LGU vowed that the resignation of Education Secretary Sara Duterte will not affect the event. In fact, the officials disclosed that Duterte is expected to grace the opening of the Palarong Pambansa 2024.
