As Super Typhoon Carina projectedly leaves the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning, and in the wake of many areas recoring from being devastated by extreme floods and heavy rainfall, the need for relief efforts becomes more apparent.

#CarinaPH, which had intensified into a super typhoon in the afternoon of July 24, together with the typhoon-enhanced southwest monsoon or ‘habagat,’ has had ravaging impacts on affected communities, particularly across Metro Manila and various areas in Northern and Central Luzon. 

GMA Kapuso Foundation, GMA Network’s socio-civic charitable arm, has already begun its relief operations under its #OperationBayanihan.

Here’s how you can contribute to their relief efforts:

IN KIND: The GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) Office (2nd Floor, GMA Kapuso Center, Samar Avenue corner, GMA Network Dr., Quezon City) receives monetary and material donations from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am until 6:00 pm.

The GMAKF receives material donations such as rice, canned goods, noodles, food items, medicines, hygiene supplies, new clothes and new footwear.

The Foundation only accepts material donations (ex. canned goods, food items and medicines) that fall within its prescribed 6-month expiry. A material receipt form is issued to the donor upon delivery of material donation.

#OperationBayanihan began its relief operations on Wednesday, July 24, beginning with affected barangays in Quezon City.

As of posting, an estimated total of 3,600 residents from 900 families residing in Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City who had to evacuate to Diosdado Macapagal Elementary School were provided with relief packs. 1,000 individuals, meanwhile, received hot meals and donuts as part of the foundation's #KapusoSoupKitchen program.

Around 1,000 evacuees sheltered at the Holy Family Parish Church in Roxas District, QC also received relief packs, while 200 were given hot meals. 

The National Capital Region, which includes Quezon City, was placed under a state of calamity by the Metro Manila Council (MCC) in coordination with Department Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos, afternoon on Wednesday, July 24.
