A six-wheeler truck crashed into two units of an apartment complex in Barangay Pinagtung-ulan in Lipa City, Batangas.

Except for the truck driver, no one else was reported hurt but the incident damaged the structure heavily.

According to the initial report of the Lipa City Police, the truck was heading to Lipa City from Cuenco when it reportedly attempted to overtake a trailer truck. When it tried to return to its lane, the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed it into the apartment building and a lamp post.

"Napalihis po siya sa right portion po doon po sa may street light. Nabangga po niya itong poste ng ilaw, pati po 'yung apartment," said PLT. Jessrene Lee Camancho, chief of the Lipa City Police Station.

Eduard Berce whose apartment roof was knocked down partly by the accident, said he rushed outside quickly after he was awakened by the crash.

"Dali-dali akong lumabas, ay nagulat na lang ako, may natumba nang truck d'yan," Berce said.

The owner of the store occupying the other apartment unit is thankful no one else was hurt in the accident.

"Wala naman na po tayong magagawa na doon kasi aksidente 'yun. Ang mahalaga, walang namatay," said Prix Deladia.

The driver, meanwhile, was treated at a hospital after he sustained injuries in various parts of his body. He has not issued a statement.

The police revealed, however, that the truck owner and the apartment owner have reached an agreement on the damage caused.

Camancho advised drivers to observe discipline on the road, avoid speeding, and prioritize safety.
