Two high-school students in the Municipality of Consolacion, Cebu Province died in a motorcycle accident after attending their Christmas party at school last December 15, 2023.

In an investigation done by the Consolacion Police, the two were with four other schoolmates who agreed to go to Barangay Garing to spend more time together right after their Christmas party. But on their way back to the town proper, all six boarded allegedly just one motorcycle.

The driver reportedly lost control when the motorcycle’s brakes malfunctioned allegedly while he was maneuvering downhill.

The 18-year-old driver and a 16-year-old girl, who was said to be one of five persons riding in pillion, died on the spot at around 7 p.m.

The other four students were taken by responders to the hospital.

Police Lt. Col. Verniño Noserale, chief of the Consolacion Police, reminded the public to be extra cautious when driving, especially if people are from a revelry such as a Christmas party.

“Specially karon nga left and right ang parties di maiwasan number 1 ang mga pag-inom og alcoholic drinks. Although kini walay direct testimony nga nakakita nga nag-inom ni sila but then, siguro mao na mag-double amping; at the same time, exercise pud ta og safety precaution,” Noserale said.
