A 45-year-old woman and her daughter drowned after swimming at a beach resort in Opol, Misamis Oriental on December 17, 2023.
Rescuers tried to save the victims identified as Nikki and Charlene Delante but they failed.
Police said the victims came from Talakag, Bukidnon and went to the beach to swim.
Investigators said a minor was also missing after swimming, prompting the personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard, Maritime Police, and members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Opol to launch a search and rescue operation.
Because of the incident, swimming is prohibited temporarily in the beaches of the town as ordered by the local government.
