The Office of Civil Defense recorded 49,000 individuals or over 15,000 families in the Provinces of Capiz and Aklan affected by floods caused by the relentless rain after the shear line persisted in the Visayas regions.

“Fourteen barangays ang flooded sa Aklan and 37 barangays naman sa Capiz. Nagpapadala naman ang local MDRRMO officers ng situation report everyday and updates sa kanilang situation at areas of responsibility,” Ma. Aletha Nogra, OCD 6 Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Division chief, said.

Overcast skies and intermittent rain were experienced in a wide portion of Panay Island, particularly in Aklan and Capiz on November 21, 2023. 

Despite the inclement weather, the flooding in the towns of Altavas and Balete in Aklan already subsided.

Landslide was reported in the town of Libacao, however an immediate clearing operation rendered the road passable again. 

Forty families in Sigma, Capiz took temporary shelter at an evacuation center. 

Water level monitoring is ongoing in the towns of Mambusao and Jamindan.
