A customer at a KTV bar (karaoke-television bar) was shot multiple times in Santa Barbara town, Province of Iloilo.
It was learned that a song cancellation led to the shooting to death of a 35-year-old resident of Molo District, Iloilo City but who resided temporarily in Barangay Lacadon in Santa Barbara.
The incident took place past 2 a.m. on April 15, 2025, in Barangay Zone IV.
“Kumakanta ang biktima, kina-cancel ng suspek upang sila naman ang makakanta. So gumanti ang biktima, kinancel rin niya ang videoke kung sila (suspek) naman ang kakanta. So yun ang nag-provoke,” said Captain Raffy Señeres, chief of Santa Barbara Municipal Police Station.
According to a staff member of the KTV bar, no altercation ensued between the suspect and the victim prior to the shooting incident.
The victim occupied a table he shared reportedly with female staff members of the bar, and that his companions were colleagues at work.
“Maya-maya bumaba siya (suspek), may kasamang apat na mga lalaki. Lalaki yung suspek. Sinipa niya muna ang biktima tapos binaril,” according to alias “Nene,” a staff member.
According to the police, no previous grudge between the victim and the suspect was established.
“Hindi naman sila magkakilala or may pinag-awayan or may grudges previously. Doon lang sila nagkita sa videoke,” Señeres added.
The victim sustained four gunshot wounds at the back, side of the body, and neck.
Recovered from the crime scene are three slugs and four spent shells.
However, the weapon used in perpetrating the crime was not found.
