A magnitude 5.7 earthquake jolted Sarangani around 5:42 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the epicenter was located 05.77°N, 124.09°E - 055 km S 54° W of Maitum and had a depth of one kilometer.

PHIVOLCS said the earthquake was tectonic in origin and aftershocks are expected.
