The distribution of Voter’s Information Sheet (VIS) in Lapu-Lapu City was received with doubt. A few voters had the impression that the VIS is a petition for impeachment.

Beginning on April 8, 2025, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Lapu-Lapu City distributed VIS in Barangays Kalawisan, Punta Engaño, Mactan, Basak, and 11 island-barangays of the city.

However, according to Atty. Ann Janette Lamban, election officer of COMELEC Lapu-Lapu City, a few of the voters were reluctant in accepting the VIS because of the wrong information that circulated.

“Dili na siya para [sa] impeachment…so, wa nay labot,” Lamban clarified.

COMELEC Central Office started distributing the VIS beginning on April 2, 2025. But what does the VIS contain?

The Voter’s Information Sheet or VIS is a guide for voters on what to do during the elections. Printed on the VIS is the name of the voter, address, precinct number, and voting center, including the time that the voting precincts will open, and how to vote using automated counting machine (ACM).

As it serves as a sample ballot, printed on the VIS are the names of local and national candidates, and a reminder on the required number of candidates one should vote for, for each position, to avert overvoting.

Further, Lamban underscored on the false information about an amount worth P1,500 inserted allegedly in the voter’s information sheet.
