The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has reminded all candidates and their supporters that campaigning during Maundy Thursday and Good Friday is strictly prohibited.

COMELEC-Dagupan City Election Officer, Atty. Michael Franks Sarmiento, said the ban is part of the "quiet period" stated in their resolution.

“Any type of pangangampanya bawal—rally, pag-iikot, even sa social media, bawal talaga,” Sarmiento said.

The restriction applies not only to candidates but also to supporters.

“Kung ang mga supporters ang nangampanya, sila ang kakasuhan natin. Kasi hindi lang naman sa kandidato ang prohibition ng campaign,” he added.

COMELEC urged all candidates to respect the observance of the Holy Week and avoid campaigning on these days.

“Dapat po irespeto nila ang Holy Week and, siyempre, ‘yung religion po ng mga Catholic,” Hennesy Macasaet, a registered voter, said.

The campaign ban covers all forms of promotion, whether physical or digital, and aims to preserve the solemnity of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
