Several equipment allegedly used in illegal mining were seized in Manticao, Misamis Oriental.

Police have yet to determine the owners of the equipment, which were abandoned in the area.

Among the equipment confiscated were 14 mill drums; three shafting rods; two rotating motors; and a submersible pump.

Some residents reported that there were people who kept on coming back in the area to conduct illegal mining.

Authorities also recovered sacks of minerals on April 1, 2025.

“Nag-contact sila sa Manticao MPS to report nga naka-discover sila og abandoned mining processing equipment ug mga sinako nga minerals,” Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, Major Geraldine Botanas, said.

Investigation continues to identify those involved in illegal mining activities in the area.

Authorities also reminded the public to report illegal mining operations to the nearest police station.

“Ang mga na-confiscate, i-turn over to siya sa Mines and Geosciences Bureau sa DENR. Kini gyud siya, makalapas ni siya sa balaod nato sa RA 7942 or The Philippine Mining Act of 1995,” Botanas added.
