A 5-year-old boy drowned at the Binday Dam in San Fabian, Pangasinan.
His mother, Virgie Calosa, was heartbroken.
"Humingi ako ng pasensya kasi hindi ko siya nailigtas," she said.
Calosa said her son, Prince Khalid, was playing in the shallow part of the dam with his cousin when she stepped away to get her phone.
Moments later, she realized he was missing.
"Meron siyang kasama, ‘yung pamangkin ko. Nung kinuha ko na ‘yung cellphone ko, dun na namin napansin na parang nawawala na siya dun sa pinagliliguan niya," she said.
A family member later found the boy but he was already unresponsive. The family suspects he slipped and hit his head, as they noticed a lump on the back of his head.
Prince Khalid was set to graduate from daycare on April 22.
