Five fishermen who have been adrift at sea for three days were rescued in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, personnel of the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao were conducting routine patrol at the Davao Gulf when they spotted a fishing boat drifting approximately 2.7 nautical miles off Kaganuhan Point, Governor Generoso.
One of the boat’s crew members signaled for help.
NFEM said the boat experienced engine trouble while traveling from General Santos City to Mati City.
The fishermen failed to get help from boats nearby until they had run out of food and water.
Navy personnel provided assistance to the fishermen by giving them food and water before the boat was towed toward the shore.
