A mother and her young daughter died after a fire razed their home in Zone IV, Barangay Carmen West in Rosales, Pangasinan, morning on Monday, April 1, 2025, authorities said.

The Rosales Fire Station reported that the fire started at 7:29 a.m., destroying their house and damaging four other structures.

Their home, made of light materials, was consumed quickly by the flames.

“Nakalabas na ‘yung ina. Nag-panic, nakalimutan ‘yung anak niya. Binalikan niya. So, dahil sa panic niya, nakita niya masyadong malakas ‘yung apoy,” SFO1 Joseph Ullibac, an arson investigator, said.

“At saka ‘yung exit nila kasi is galing doon banda ‘yung apoy. So, na-trap sila, Sir,” Ullibac added.

An elderly man also sustained injuries while trying to rescue the victims.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, which lasted over two hours and caused an estimated P2.5 million in damages.
