A man who refused to give money to a drunk man was shot dead in Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

Police said the victim was playing checkers or ‘dama’ inside a store when he was shot by the suspect.

Prior to the incident, the suspect allegedly asked for money but the victim refused.

“Ang reason is katong hubog nga suspek nangayo to sa iya og kwarta and then wala niya taga-e, mao to nga miresulta sa nga napusilan siya,” Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, Major Geraldine Botanas, said.

Authorities recovered eight empty shells from a caliber .22 pistol from the crime scene.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

Police have identified the suspect who is being pursued, as of this writing.

“Identified nato ang suspek so panawagan nato sa public kung kinsa man to nakatuod sa location aning suspek karon nga unta itaho nila sa Claveria MPS para matabangan nato madali ang kaso,” Botanas added.
