Four police officers, including the chief of the Pasuquin Police Station in Ilocos Norte, were removed from their posts after a video showing an officer assaulting a man inside the station went viral.

The video, which is now in the hands of the Philippine National Police (PNP), captured an officer hitting and cursing at a man repeatedly.

“Base sa video kung makikita niyo, hindi maganda daw ang sagot ng suspek. Sa ngayon po, yun po ang naka-trigger. At yung ibang detalye po ay inaalam pa natin,” PLTCOL. Jephre Taccad of the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO), said.

According to the INPPO’s official statement, the incident happened on March 30, 2025.

A man first reported to the police that two individuals had hit him at a wake around 12:50 a.m. Then, at around 2 a.m., the two men went to the station, claiming they were the real victims.

In the course of the investigation, one of the men allegedly spoke loudly and disrespectfully, which angered a police officer, leading to the assault.

The three officers seen in the video—a police master sergeant, a patrolman, and a corporal—were removed from their posts immediately while investigation into the incident continues. They are now under the PNP Regional Office.

The police chief has been reassigned to the provincial office.

The police are still trying to get a statement from the man assaulted, who has yet to file a complaint.

INPPO said it does not tolerate such behavior and reminded officers to stay calm in tense situations.

“They should maintain their composure… sa mga ganung pagkakataon talaga ay maximum tolerance,” Taccad said.
