Members of Muslim communities in the City of Iloilo, Province of Iloilo, Bacolod City, and Province of Negros Occidental marked the end of Ramadan on Monday, March 31, 2025.

Members of Masjid AlKabeer gathered at the public plaza of Pavia town, Province of Iloilo morning on March 31, 2025, to celebrate Eid’l Fitr or the “Breaking of the Fast."

A get-together was carried out at the mosque after a short program.

“Preparation ng aming lunch para sa lahat na brothers and sisters na nandito ngayon. At meron kaming competition sa Quran, meron kaming games sa kabataan and matatanda,” Nasser Mesiderio, administrator of Masjid AlKabeer, said.

Ramadan is one of the five pillars of the Islamic faith.

The end of Ramadan marks visits to families or relatives, gift-giving, and the seeking-and-granting of forgiveness.

In a Muslim community in Barangay San Isidro, La Paz District, Iloilo City, each Muslim family contributed in the celebration of Eid’l Fitr. “After ng one month, ngayon Eid’l Fitr tapos na. Yun na yun ang celebration sa sakripisyo na ginawa namin, so naghahanda kami,” Eleazar Barodi, acting administrator of Mujajiren Masjid, said.

Meanwhile members of Muslim communities in the Province of Negros Occidental gathered at the Cisdani Masjid Abubakar in Barangay 30, Bacolod City.

Aside from the teachings of Allah, the center of the celebration is providing joy to children.

“Question and answer. Meron silang mga premyo, pagpapahiwatig ng kasiyahan ng mga Muslim community sa buong mundo,” said Abu Aljannah Nadela Carcauga, an imam (one who leads Muslim worshippers in prayer).

Aside from the get-together, sharing to residents in the barangay is an important activity in the day.

“Ito na ang pinakamasaya sa aming mga Muslim," according to Musa Polinario, a member of the Cisda Masjid Abubakar Muslim community.
