More than 1,200 police officers will be deployed across Northern Mindanao to ensure public safety during ‘summer’ vacation.
According to the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), the deployment is part of its summer vacation (SUMVAC) 2025 security measures, which aim to enhance public safety and security from April 1 to May 31, 2025.
PRO-10 director, Brigadier General Jaysen De Guzman, said the heightened security operations are important during summer season as influx of travelers and vacationers are expected in areas of convergence.
“We want to assure the public that PRO10 is fully prepared for SUMVAC 2025. Our personnel will be deployed to strategic locations to maintain peace and security, especially in areas where people gather, such as churches, terminals, major roads, commercial centers, and tourist spots,” De Guzman said.
Around 357 police officers will be assigned to places of worship; 215 to thoroughfares; 176 to transportation hubs; 192 to commercial areas; and 326 to other places of convergence.
These police officers will be deployed to thwart criminal activities and provide assistance in case of emergencies.
PRO-10 urged the public to cooperate and remain vigilant.
“Security is a shared responsibility. We encourage everyone to be cautious and work with us in keeping Northern Mindanao safe. If you need police assistance, do not hesitate to approach our personnel or contact the nearest police station,” De Guzman added.
PRO-10 added that checkpoints and foot and mobile patrols will continue.
Local government units and other security forces will also be tapped to strengthen security and safety measures throughout the summer period.
