A family in Lingayen, Pangasinan was shocked after finding their pet dog, "Brown," with an arrow lodged in its body.

The one-year-old crossbreed of Aspin and Japanese Spitz was in visible pain but remained alive.

Afternoon on Saturday, Brown approached its owner, Miaka, who was horrified to see the arrow piercing the dog’s body.

Miaka said she felt deep sadness over what happened. The family has no idea who committed the act.

The family struggled to remove the arrow and decided to take the dog to a veterinarian for proper treatment.

Veterinary experts warn that the arrow could cause serious internal bleeding.

"Kung malalim ‘yung baon, it causes internal bleeding. ‘Yun ang dahilan ng pagkamatay kung hindi maagapan," Dr. Jayson Baradi, a veterinarian, said.

Authorities have labeled the case as animal cruelty.

"Mag-iimbestiga tayo at magpa-file tayo ng kaukulang kaso kung mapatunayan natin na may basehan ang ating ipa-file na kaso. Maliwanag na cruelty to animal ‘yan. Iimbestigahan natin ‘yan," PLTCol. Amor Mio Somine, chief of Lingayen Police Station, said.

The police are now conducting an investigation to identify the person responsible. If found guilty, the suspect could face charges under the Animal Welfare Act of the Philippines.
